versatile mage·Chapter 222

Qianjun · Thunderbolt · Yaksha!

*Crackle crackle crackle~~~*

Lightning Element energy manifested around Mo Fan. Electrical arcs flickered and darted across his body.

First came a brilliant Star Trail — it appeared at his feet.

Then another Star Trail followed, crossing the first at an angle...

Zhang Lulu watched Mo Fan trace his Star Trails, struck by how his mastery of the Lightning Element surpassed Xu Zhaoting's by a wide margin. Whether it was the fluid Control of each Star Trail or the seamless connections that formed the Star Chart, the whole process flowed in one unbroken motion — not even a fraction of a pause.

"Another Thunderbolt? So what if it's mid-level Lightning Element magic? At best it kills one Black-Beast Demon — we have so many here. You'll drain your Magical Energy before you put a dent in us!" Gray Three was an arrogant man. Seeing Mo Fan cast what looked like the same spell Xu Zhaoting had just used, he broke into open mockery.

Lightning Element was formidable, and mid-level domain spells were unrivaled in raw power.

But every Black Church cultist here could command anywhere from one to five Black-Beast Demons. The mid-level Thunderbolt could kill one at most — no matter how overwhelming the force, what did it accomplish?

Mo Fan had already heard the Black Church cultist's taunt. A cold smile curved at the corner of his mouth.

*What a spectacularly naive bastard. Does he really think mid-level Lightning Element magic only ever takes one form?*

"Thunderbolt!!"

His hand angled upward toward the night sky. In the absolute darkness of the air above, storm clouds began condensing at frightening speed.

A flash of lightning — hurtling down!

A massive bolt of violet lightning tore the night sky open. Its destruction-laden body descended in a single unbroken column, scorching the very air around it.

"Yaksha!" As Mo Fan guided the Thunderbolt and it reached the halfway point of its descent, he spoke the suffix.

Thunderbolt: Yaksha!

The violet lightning that had already fallen halfway suddenly fractured.

The thick bolt split apart, reaching out into multiple branching chains!!

A forked Thunderbolt!

Five separate branches of the forked lightning appeared — yet their combined destructive force did not diminish in the slightest as they crashed down together, each targeting one of the five Black-Beast Demons at the front of the charge.

Those five Black-Beast Demons had still been sprinting forward with savage fury when, in the instant one of the Thunderbolt's forks found them, they simply came apart — reduced to a fine spray of blood-mist!!

The droplets were impossibly fine. Flesh and blood both. The lightning had dismembered them alive, bones ground to powder, bodies blasted apart!!

Thunderbolt: Yaksha was mercilessly fast and brutal. In one blinding flash, five Black-Beast Demons ceased to exist — nothing remained on the ground but charred black scorch marks and spreading pools of gore.

The searing light left Zhang Lulu unable to open her eyes. When her vision finally cleared, she saw in stark clarity what those five Black-Beast Demons had become in the Thunderbolt's wake — reduced to nothing but liquefied remains.

This — this was the second tier of mid-level Lightning Element magic!!

Mo Fan had already cultivated to the second mid-level Lightning Element realm!!!

In an instant, a third of the fifteen Black-Beast Demons had been annihilated. Gray Three, who had been sneering just moments ago, went rigid.

This target was in a completely different class from that other Lightning Element student — both in how fast he traced the Lightning Star Chart and in the raw power of his Lightning spells. They weren't even in the same league.

"Push in, push in — while he's recovering!" Gray Two snapped furiously.

The Black-Beast Demons dared not hesitate for even a moment. They continued surging toward Mo Fan. To the Black Church, these creatures existed to be spent as cannon fodder — no matter how many fell, the cultists wouldn't spare a thought for them. Only the mission mattered.

Facing the remaining ten Black-Beast Demons, Mo Fan didn't flinch.

Lightning danced in his palm once more. By now, the Lightning Seal technique was second nature to him — there wasn't even a visible casting motion.

*Ssssh.*

A pair of lethal claws flashed with cold light, slashing past bare inches from Mo Fan's throat. That strike targeted the most vital spot imaginable — slice open the artery in the neck and there was no coming back from it.

Mo Fan had already spotted the fastest Black-Beast Demon. He shifted his weight and took one small, precise step to the side.

A nearby dam had split the moonlight into two distinct bands — one lit, one dark. Mo Fan had been standing right along that boundary. The moment the Black-Beast Demon struck, he slipped entirely into the shadowed side of the divide...

The second Black-Beast Demon lunged into the darkness — and found nothing. Furious, it scanned in all directions for its target. By then, Mo Fan had already moved to another patch of shadow ten meters away.

"Qianjun · Lightning Seal: Furious Strike!!!"

This time, the lightning was no longer violet.

Darkness had crept into the Lightning Seal's violet hue — and all that brilliant violet lightning transformed into surging, dense currents of dark-violet energy.

*Crackle crackle crackle.*

These Lightning Seals, which looked far weaker than the Thunderbolt at a glance, became ferociously powerful under the influence of that dark energy. The Lightning Seal already carried whipping and paralysis effects — and with the dark energy driving the surrounding air into violent vibrations, it coalesced into a field of bone-crushing shockwaves.

The Lightning Seal: Furious Strike landed squarely on the fastest Black-Beast Demon. The instant the creature grazed a single arc of electricity, its body locked up entirely. Then the Lightning Seals, loaded with shockwave force and crushing weight, came slamming down one after another.

**CRACK!! CRACK!!**

Like massive dark-violet iron chains hammering down with full force — the Black-Beast Demon's body was driven deeper and deeper into the ground with each blow. By the time every Lightning Seal had landed, the creature had been pounded into a flat smear of paste!!!!

Not a trace of life remained. The Black-Beast Demon that had been reduced to pulp lay less than twenty meters from Zhang Lulu. The air still trembled faintly around the spot — a trembling that left Zhang Lulu's heart in complete disarray.

This... this was still a basic Lightning Seal? A first-tier Lightning Element spell??

A single Lightning Seal, even one pushed to its third refinement level, should at best inflict moderate damage on a Black-Beast Demon. You would still need to chain immediately into another spell while the paralysis held before you could hope to critically wound a Demon-Beast...

And yet Mo Fan's Lightning Seal was utterly unlike anything any other student could produce — Xu Zhaoting's included.

His lightning was dark-violet.

His lightning could drive the surrounding air into a tremendous crushing force. What should have been a mere whipping, stinging technique had instead become something like a colossal weight grinding and pounding the Black-Beast Demon — flogging it to death outright!!

Qianjun...

He had spoken that word when releasing the Lightning Seal.

Could it be that his Lightning Seed was no longer a Common Seed??

Incredible.

This was the figure who had made his notorious name in a single stroke at the Freshman Tournament — and he had grown *this* powerful? Those fearsome Servant-class Demon-Beasts were like children before him. Even his most basic spells were enough to flog them to death where they stood!!

"Qianjun..."

Just as Zhang Lulu's thoughts churned in turmoil, Mo Fan traced the Lightning Element Star Chart once more.

His speed was extraordinary — even with so many Black-Beast Demons pressing their assault without pause, his casting wasn't disrupted for even a moment.

That resonant voice rang out again. This time, Mo Fan was channeling the Spirit Grade Lightning Seed to Release a mid-level Lightning Element spell.

Qianjun's entry-level spells were already enough to one-shot these Black-Beast Demons outright. So amplified by Qianjun's power, just how devastating would the even more overwhelming mid-level Lightning Element spell become??

Qianjun ·

Thunderbolt ·

Yaksha!!

Dense dark-violet storm clouds massed and gathered overhead...

Dark-violet lightning crashed down without warning...

Halfway through its descent, it split apart — fork after fork of branching lightning, their power utterly undiminished...

Not far away, the Huangpu River flowed quietly by. On its surface, the river mirrored this scene of absolute destruction — a branching bolt of dark-violet lightning, savage and ungoverned, carrying with it the thick, choking scent of death!!
